Glossary

Article submission sites: Articles are written that relate to podcast show/episode and submitted to online sites to increase traffic.

Audio and Video Podcast Directories: Similar to the yellow pages in a phone book or an online directory such as Yahoo.com, Podcast directories list all podcasts that are submitted to it in a searchable format and allow users to listen and subscribe to the podcasts listed there.

Blog: 1 -2 paragraph intro to each podcast that contains keywords to increase SEO and draw listeners to podcast.

Channel: A niched grouping of podcast shows that concern one specific marketing niche, i.e.: BoomerYak for baby boomer listeners, Radio For Your Health for people interested in health issues, etc.

Cross-posting: A show that is podcast from both a “home” channel and additional niched channels that are appropriate.

Keywords: Keywords are used to retrieve documents in an information system, for instance, a catalog or a search engine. A popular form of keywords on the web is tags which are directly visible and can be assigned by non-experts also. In the case of marketing on the internet, keywords are used within web documents such as websites, social networks, blogs and lenses to target SEO (search engine optimization).

Lenses: Pages that are created to focus on specific subjects of interest. At Yaktivate we use Squidoo™, a publishing platform and community, for that purpose.

Podcast: Recorded audio or video content that can be listened to or viewed from a computer or downloaded to an audio or video player.

Podcaster: Any individual(s), organization(s), group(s) or business entities that present audio/video recordings (content). Often referred to as “host”.

PodSpot: A soft mention/referral (advertisement) of at least 15 seconds by podcast show host.

PRWeb™: Online press release submission site; to increase traffic through SEO.

Psychographics: Psychographic variables are any attributes relating to personality, values, attitudes, interests, or lifestyles. As far as marketing is concerned we emphasize psychographics in our marketing strategies, ie: niched channels and keyword targeting.

Pull marketing: Activities that build relationships between the podcast host and the listener, through the use of the laws of attraction, which compel people to learn more about the product or services.

Push marketing: Interruption based marketing where the advertisement interrupts what you are doing to give you the ad.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization): Process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines . At Yaktivate we have a proprietary system of multiple presences on the web and special linking techniques.

Sponsor/Advertiser: A business that pays to support a niched/targeted podcast and gets a warm marketing referral directly to the listener from the host who has credibility with that listener.
